The first person to sign up for the coal mining job exchange program can earn up to $70,000 in a year, with the top earners earning over $100,000 per year.
The first 30 people who sign up get paid $300 a week, while the top 40 people get $2,000 a week.
The $300-a-week rate is not subject to a cap and is not the same as annual salary, the Queensland Government has announced.
Workers in Queensland currently have to work a minimum of 14 hours a week and work with up to 40 hours a day.
The Queensland Government said it was trying to boost the economy by making more coal-mining jobs more available.
“The program is designed to help people get the experience they need to find a good job,” said a spokesperson for Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.
“It’s aimed at people who might be looking for a change, or have moved out of the industry.”
More than 60 people have already signed up.
“We are working hard to find the best job for the most people and this is an important first step,” Ms PalasZczuk said.
“Our priority is getting people back into the workforce, but also making sure we are protecting our environment and making sure the jobs of the future are created in Queensland.”
