Application Use as materials of oil-drilling mud fluid as weighting additives to increase the mud weight without increasing the solid content. The mineral has high specific gravity to be use for increasing mud density in many types of drilling fluid systems, etc.

Barite is the naturally occurring mineral form of barium sulphate.  Our Barite Ore is gravity is between 4.20 to 4.40 density is between 97% t 98%, the raw Barite ore is milled to 200 mesh. Its main properties are; chemically & physically unreactive,  high specific gravity, very low solubility and non-toxicity.

Your choice of either product is available for immediate delivery at Eagle Pass, Laredo, and other Texas locations. We also have the capacity to ship our products to other states or countries.

Our Barite is extracted by both surface and underground mining, followed by simple physical processing methods to produce correctly sized product and to remove extraneous materials.

BARITE SUPPLY SPECIALIST

Barite (Barium Sulphate) is a heavy inert mineral, theoretically it's specific gravity is 4.5.
One of the principal uses is in the manufacturing of oil well drilling fluids.
In practice the material used in drilling fluids runs between 4.10 and 4.25 specific gravity.
In the oil and gas drilling process the fluids serve a variety of purposes vital to the economic achievement of reaching a desired depth.

Functions of a drilling fluid:

  1. To clean cuttings from the well bottom.
  2. Flush those cuttings to the surface.
  3. Cool and lubricate the drill bit.
  4. Deposit a “filter cake’ layer on the wellbore wall to prevent loss of the circulating fluid.
  5. Prevent formation fluids entering the borehole and mixing with circulating fluids.
  6. Support the walls of the well bore without damaging the formation.
  7. Control pressures under the surface.

Oklamex production of high quality paint grade barite for use in paint and plastics. This grade barite is also used as a filler an extender for Titanium Dioxide. The mineral is available as lump ore or ground and micronized finished product along with precipitated barium sulphate. Our production of paint grade barite can reach 25,000 tons year

Chemical grade barite is available for barium carbonate and barium sulphate production. Grades for friction, carpet backing, golf and tennis balls are also available.

Barite Chemical Grade
Chemical grade barite is used to produce all barium-containing compounds and barium salts for a variety of chemical applications.

USES OF BARITE

Oil industry
It is used worldwide as a weighting agent for drilling fluids in oil and gas exploration.
Chemical
Electronics, TV screen, glass, ceramics
Medical
Barium meals
Fillers
Car, rubber and paint industry
Radiation shielding
Barite is supplied in a variety of forms, the price depends on the amount of processing. Filler applications command higher prices as they follow intense physical processing by grinding and micronising. There are further premiums for whiteness, brightness and color.

Oklamex Barite originates in Mexico

BENEFITS OF BARITE

Barite is a mineral, which is used in its natural form, making it an environmentally friendly material. Hematite and ilmenite are higher cost alternative products for the oil drilling industry. Ground limestone or clays are sometimes used on economy grounds in some filler applications.
